In this post we are going to answer the question ‘’Can you finish a phd early?’’ We will explain to you when a doctorate lasts and some tips to finish it successfully and quickly.

Can you finish a PhD early?

Yes, you can finish a PhD early. But that depends on the student’s field of research and if he or her has a Master’s Degree.

A doctorate is the last and the most important academic level conferred by a university. The person who obtains this degree is called a   doctor. The title of doctor doesn’t necessarily have to be related to medicine; a doctor is one who has completed a thesis to obtain a doctorate and thus receive the highest university degree

The title of Doctor is the one obtained by a doctoral student who, after completing his or her undergraduate studies, begins to complete his thesis.

The doctoral thesis is an investigation that the future doctor carries out at the college. Each Bachelor’s degree can be extended with this research period.

The student carries out an investigation that, during the day of the defense of the doctoral thesis, he will present before the tribunal that evaluates his work. Until then, he will be accompanied by the director of this research project.

How long does the student take to complete the Doctorate?

The time it takes the student to complete the Doctorate will depend on different factors. Some professionals reconcile their work with carrying out their research, that is, they don’t dedicate all their present time to this task.

Other students, on the other hand, do have this exclusive dedication. Four years is the approximate time it takes a doctoral student to complete the thesis.

When starting the Doctorate, the student must formalize the enrollment at the university where he / she is going to study it. This research has a subject of study, objectives, premises, a methodology… There are grants to support research for the completion of the Doctorate.

It is important that the doctoral student is attentive to the different calls to present the information required in the bases within the indicated period.

There are different candidates who apply for a specific number of scholarships. Having a grant to carry out research is a very important aspect because, in this way, the student can dedicate himself full time to his research.

Taking a graduate degree gives you the opportunity to update your knowledge and adapt to new trends in the market regarding the discipline.

It even instructs you in the use of new technologies (Tics) applied to each professional branch.

Today, companies require professionals who remain in continuity with respect to emerging knowledge and new methods for dealing with processes.

Therefore, it is advisable to maintain regular knowledge in masters and doctorates.

Doing a doctorate gives you the chance to achieve your goals and achieve a higher academic degree.

It is to find through education a stimulus that leads to develop skills and abilities, therefore it is a formative achievement.

Even having postgraduate studies is an immediate opportunity to obtain higher remuneration, to have the possibilities of promotion thanks to the skills acquired in terms of problem solving.

So, can you finish a PhD early?

By enrolling in a program with graduate level credits and having no college or testing experience, one of the easiest ways to obtain a doctorate is. Students may also identify classes that provide an alternative that is accelerated.

This depends on whether you say ‘’any PhD’’ and whether the nature of the PhD does not matter to you. For two examples, I can answer: a) Getting a PhD very quickly and b) becoming a good PhD student.

a)    Let’s start by saying you just want ‘’any’’ PhD very quickly. There are literally a couple of things you can do:

1)    Find a place where your counselor and interviewer are similar (say, London) and where advisors ideally gain from graduate students in study (research money, important for their career, etc.).

2)    Choose an area that doesn’t require fieldwork, collecting data, etc. The less information you need and the more from only reading about the latest literature you will get by, the better.

Strong candidates are typically administration and some other social sciences/humanities (disclaimer: this does not mean that all the PhDs in these fields are of poor quality –far from it). Stop something like the plague that’s lab-based, etc.

3)    Seeking a consultant with poor expectations (remember that that persona is also your examiner).

4)    Write and graduate.

To be honest: you’re not going to get an academic position for this, anywhere near zero would be your impact on human intelligence, but you’re going to get a PhD.

B) The more important scenario now: How can you graduate easily, but with respectable doctorate?

1)    Aim to avoid all teaching within a couple of weeks each year. If you work 20 hours a week for 4 weeks, it’s far less disruptive than if you do the same amount of teaching with a few hours per week.

2)    Restrict half the study days. To get into the good frame of mind to be effective, most individuals require a certain setup time. It will really ruin your morale to hold a one-hour meeting in the middle of the afternoon.

3)    Several schools have classes such as ‘’How to do a presentation’’ etc. Typically, they are not that effective since they are not field-specific. Go instead to the lecture series of the departments and reflect on how individuals present instead of the material (at least for certain presentations). Replicate the great ones and stop stuff that has troubled you

4)    Try to discover practical techniques that make you really effective. The best time saver for me, for example, was definitely learning how to structure statistical output in a way that I could only copy and paste into documents.

5)    Becoming a respectable researcher. Writing is 50% of the day, potentially. You have got a great time saver if you can cut back on the amount of drafts per file.

6)    Start thinking of the amount of teaching you do, whether you will be a leader of the course, etc. Some of this is positive and useful for your CN, but in terms of recruiting, whether you have 200 or 2000 hours of teaching experience, it does not necessarily make a big difference.

7)    Find a decent counselor.
